Trichy International Airport in Tamil Nadu is preparing for an emergency landing of an Air India Express flight that left for Sharjah on Friday but attempted to return due to a technical issue, according to officials.

Airport officials told IANS that ambulances and firefighters are ready for the flight’s emergency landing, which is scheduled to take place in 15 minutes.

Airport Director Gopalakrishnan stated that 20 ambulances and 18 fire engines are stationed at the airport in preparation for an emergency landing. He also confirmed that all emergency landing processes had been engaged.

According to accounts, there was a mechanical problem on an Air India flight from Trichy to Sharjah with 141 passengers on board.

The flight, which took off from Tiruchirappalli Airport at 5.40 p.m., encountered hydraulic problems immediately after takeoff, leading the plane’s landing gear to malfunction and prevent the wheels from retracting. The pilot declared an emergency and initiated safety precautions, including circling Trichy airspace for more than an hour to reduce the aircraft’s fuel weight, which is required for a safe emergency landing.

All 141 passengers are said to be safe, and Air India has stated that every precaution is being taken to ensure that the matter is resolved efficiently.

The Tiruchi District Collector told media that ambulances and fire tenders were maintained on standby and that the administration is prepared for any emergency circumstance.
