The Railways have started preparatory work to destroy the current overbridge, which has been closed since Saturday midnight and spans the busy Tiruchi-Madurai line at the Railway Junction in Tiruchi. The flyover’s road surface has been milled, and the bridge will likely be taken down within the coming weeks.
As part of the second phase of the project, which is being carried out in collaboration between the State Highways Department and the Railways, a new bridge will be built to replace the existing one.
