It is anticipated that the Trichy Integrated Bus Terminus will open in January

In order to open the Integrated Bus Terminus in January 2025, Minister for Municipal Administration K.N. Nehru gave officials instructions on Saturday to speed up development of the facility at Panjapur on the Trichy-Madurai Highway.

Along with Mayor M. Anbazhagan, Collector M. Pradeep Kumar, Corporation Commissioner V. Saravanan, and other senior Corporation officials, Mr. Nehru examined the project’s development.

Mr. Nehru instructed the staff to speed the remaining works by December, according to a senior Corporation official. Before commissioning the project, he gave them instructions to finish the passenger amenities and supporting infrastructure that were planned for the bus bays, including food stands, ATMs, and sanitary facilities.

Cost escalation reportedly hindered the project’s progress while the civic body waited for further funding from the State government. Nonetheless, ₹99 crore has been approved to finish the multi-utility facility center and the outstanding work. Plumbing, carpentry, and electrical work had been done, and about 90% of the construction was already finished. The extra money would be used to complete the utility center’s outstanding work, air conditioning the passenger waiting room, and repair the roof.

The Minister had announced earlier in August that the terminus will open in ninety days. But the deadline had been moved to December due to the northeast monsoon and delays in collecting the extra monies. In order to track the project’s development, he also requested that the officials have frequent review sessions. At a cost of ₹349.98 crore, the civic government started building the truck port and terminus in October 2022.
