Two “vulnerable” causeways close to Tiruchirappalli have been replaced by two new bridges built with precast reinforced cement concrete twin boxes as part of a major infrastructure improvement by the Southern Railway, significantly increasing safety.

On the electrified Trichy-Dindigul broad gauge stretch, the new bridges, Nos. 1142A and 1143A, have been built between Tiruchi Junction and the Pungudi railway stations, close to the Koraiyar river and next to the Rettai Malai. The Madurai Railway Division is in charge of the BG segment.
