Air India Express is set to enhance connectivity between Trichy and Muscat with an additional weekly direct flight starting January 2025. The decision, announced by Trichy airport authorities.
New Service Details

Flight Schedule:
- Tiruchy to Muscat (IX619): Departs at 6:00 PM, arrives at 8:40 PM.

Boost for Regional Travelers
This new service is particularly significant for passengers who previously faced limited options for direct travel between Tiruchy and Muscat. Before the pandemic, travelers often had to transit via Chennai or Colombo, leading to longer travel times and inconvenience.
The situation worsened after SriLankan Airlines discontinued its Muscat service, making Chennai the only available option. The direct flights launched post-pandemic by Air India Express have been a game-changer, significantly easing travel for Tamil Nadu’s central region.
Impact on Trichy Airport
The introduction of another direct flight marks a significant milestone for Tiruchy Airport, highlighting its growing importance as a regional aviation hub. The additional service is expected to further boost passenger traffic, strengthen the airport’s position, and cater to the demands of Tamil Nadu’s workforce employed in the Middle East.
Conclusion
The new weekly flight between Tiruchy and Muscat not only strengthens ties between the two regions but also underscores the importance of accessible and efficient air travel for Tamil Nadu’s workforce. With this move, Air India Express continues to address the needs of its passengers, offering greater convenience and connectivity.
